They said A famous footballer, a man imprisoned for raping his wife, a building society cashier traumatised by robberies, a drug taking alternative person, a Peruvian immigrant, a student nurse with ME and a woman involved with the occult in their seven remarkable real life stories there is something for everyone. The style is straightforward, often using the protagonists own words, and no testimony is longer than eight pages This makes it an ideal evangelistic tool and it would be a determined person who could resist this format It is also encouraging for Christians to hear of the amazing ways God draws us to himself Hearing God speak through robins is a new one on me but then, I m not called Robin Since men seem to be resistant than women, it is interesting to hear the four men telling how they became Christians Hans Segers is treated exactly like Robin the Christian traveller or Bob the coach driver refreshing in our personality obsessed day The epilogue, an explanation , is hardly necessary and indeed runs on longer than some of the stories, though it does include several passages from Scripture The book is illustrated with a simple black and white photo of each person Angela Rigby Candle and Keyboard Magazine of the Association of Christian Writers, UK This is a small book which tells the stories of seven individuals, including the footballer, Hans Segers, who was accused of match swinging, and whose lives were transformed by an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ just when they felt they had reached the lowest point The stories were obviously true but in one or two I felt unclear about the extent to which the teller had experienced a conversion experience at times there just seemed to be an awareness of God stepping into a difficult situation but without the life changing knowledge of sins forgiven. The final chapter by the book s author, however, gives an excellent explanation of the gospel and includes a prayer which an unbeliever seeking forgiveness could pray It is this chapter which makes the book suitable for giving away to a person who is either seeking God or perhaps going through difficult circumstances Reviewed by Pippa Underwood, EN New by Paul Alkazraji The Silencer
